CHOOSING THE RIGHT PHOTOGRAPHER FOR YOUR FAMILY
It all comes down to what you want to remember about this time and how you want to enjoy those memories in years to come. I specialise in both lifestyle and documentary portraits and whilst there is overlap between both styles, it's important to understand the slight differences between the two before decided what is right for you.
So is it Lifestyle, or Documentary? Check out the examples below to help you decide.
Will you work from a shot list?
When it comes to family portraits at a wedding, then yes - I will ask you for a list of those people combinations so we can get through these as efficiently as possible and make sure no one is forgotten. Apart from that, you won't see my head down in a shot list. I will keep my head up and see what is unfolding naturally in front of me.
Will you photoshop me to an inch of my life?
No. I do however, review all images to make a selection of the best from the day and apply specific colour and tonal edits so that your images look their very best. I also offer advice both in the lead up to your session and on the day to ensure that what is captured at the time doesn't need timely edits. Teeth-whitening, skin corrections and skinny-conversions are not on the cards but if you do have a specific requirement, can be accommodated for an hourly fee.
Can I share my images on social media?
Can you ever! Your images are there to be shared with friends and family. All I ask is that you give a shout out to Lightsmith Images and please, never sell or alter your images in any way.
I'm in! What's required to secure your services?
High five! A non-refundable deposit - along with a signed photography agreement - is required to reserve your date and time. For weddings, the balance is payable 4 weeks before your big day. For portrait clients, the balance is payable 48 hours before your session. Payment plans are available and if you want more details on this, just drop me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Do we get to say "cheeesse!"
Ah, no. I have a natural, documentary style so it will be extremely rare that I will stand you all in front of the camera, count down from 3 and ask you all to shout cheese. And when I say rare, what I mean is, never. Saying that, I know that there are those must have shots for parents and grandparents that typically require everyone to face camera and smile and if this is important to you, then we will achieve these on the day. I just might ask you all to shout "ice-cream" or "turtles" instead.
Do you offer prints and albums?
Yes! In fact, if you are choosing me as your photographer, then know that I'm not a shoot and burn kinda gal so digital only packages are not available. Instead, all wedding collections include a seamless layflat fine art album (this can be switched up for fine art prints if you're not into albums) and for both wedding and portrait clients, I have a stunning range of frames, canvases, albums and other incredible keepsakes that will ensure you enjoy your images today and for generations to come.
How long does it take to see my images?
I know, this is the exciting part right?! Wedding clients can expect to see their images within 8 weeks after their big day and portrait clients will have their preview gallery within 3 weeks after the session.
Do you travel?
I travel both domestically and internationally to capture stories around the world. All standard prices apply with the addition of economy fares and accommodation.
