Emma + Dave (+ Rex + Buster) | Hinterland Engagement Session

Every year, I see in the New Year at Woodford Folk Festival. It is one of my favourite places - most definitely my favourite festival - and as soon as I turn off the Bruce and head up D’aguilar Highway, I instantly feel wonderful.

Every year, as I drive up to Woodford, I pass this little patch of pines and rolling hills. It’s at a bend in the road and no matter the time of day I drive past, it’s always pretty as a picture. So, you can imagine my excitement when it was this very property - a family property - that Emma suggested for hers and Dave’s engagement shoot.

It was more beautiful than I imagined. Untrodden paths through forest and hills and sunset rays through trees. Dams and long grass. Rex and Buster, Emma and Dave’s beautiful German Shepherds joined us for some of the time to get the all important family shots. One of the sweetest moments was right at the end of the session when we returned to the house, where Rex and Buster were reunited with Emma and Dave. The excitement of these gorgeous dogs was as though we had been away for days, and not a mere 40 minutes.

What I love most when I think of this session, is that there will be photos of the time before Emma and Dave were married, on the land that belongs to their family, that will always be so important to them. It brings extra meaning to the shoot, as does the inclusion of their pet family.

Pets, a beautiful patch of land and a kind-hearted couple - the recipe for such a gorgeous session.

Emma and Dave, I am so excited to see you again in a few weeks’ time for your wedding day!
