I had the pleasure of capturing this family in their home last year (you can check it out here). At this time, we documented things like family breakfast, baking a cake, making a bed, waking up from naptime, a little bit of work and a whole lot of play. Family life at it’s most natural, raw and beautiful. The most wonderful celebration of the perfectly imperfect.
A year on, we met at Main Beach to bask in the gorgeous last light of an autumn afternoon. The children have grown and a new sibling is on their way. The baby of the family soon to be a big brother. The eldest so confident, finding treasures in the sand and so generously handing them to me as precious gifts. A moment for mum – a photographer herself – to get into the frame with her family. To be there in the moment, to experience the tickles, the breeze, the kisses and the cuddles.
As the sky turned from blue to pink, I reflected on how our stories are ever changing, evolving. And how that very fact makes today so much more precious.
Dieter, Kylie and your beautiful children – thank you for the most wonderful end to the Easter long-weekend. This is your story xx
