Damon + Kate | Intimate Bunya Mountains Wedding
Kate and Damon chose to have just their immediate family present in what was an intimate and beautiful mountain wedding. They got ready together in a little cabin engulfed in the woods and before the ceremony, we wandered the National Park together. It afforded them the opportunity to take a breather before the ceremony together, to settle the nerves and simply take in the beauty that surrounded us.
With just minutes before the ceremony commencement, the skies opened and heavy rain battered the forest ground. We huddled under a marque, laughing at Mother Nature and whilst waiting for the rain to lighten, Kate set up pots of tea, conserves and champagne.
The rain turned to drizzle and vows were exchanged. As family huddled under umbrellas, Kate and Damon stood in the elements, with resolve and hearts full of love for one another and those who stood by them. After the ceremony, damper was retrieved from the hot coals of a nearby barbeque and broken amongst family. Hot cups of tea, hot damper and champagne. A simple, stunning feast.
The day before, I had explored the area and stopped by a lookout to watch the sunset. It was beautiful and I recommended to Kate and Damon that we return there at the end of the day. When we did, the sunset gifted to us was one of the most breathtaking I have ever seen. I found an old picnic blanket in my 4WD, laid it out for the newlyweds and invited them to just sit and watch the first sunset as a married couple. I then took a step back and captured the magic.
Kate, Damon – congratulations on your stunning wedding day. I really hope you both enjoyed every bit of it, from the torrential rain to that giant red sun slipping through the clouds.
This is your story xx
I love all weddings but for those who do things just a little bit differently - you guys have a special place in my heart. I still have some availability for 2018 so if you plan on getting hitched next year, get in touch - I'd love to hear from you!
