Annika + Bayden | Brisbane Maternity Photography Session
When the alarm went off at 5am, the first thing I did was check the weather app on my phone. With relief, I saw that there was only a small chance of rain for the morning. Twenty minutes later as the street rested in silence, I was loading my camera bag into the car and on my way north to meet Annika and Bayden in the Glass House Mountains.
Annika was 38 weeks pregnant, all bump and all smiles. The three of us found an incredible spot with Mount Tibrogargan in the back, the rows of evergreen pines to one side and a pineapple farm on the other. Maternity photography is one of my favourites and a location like this? I couldn't wait to get started.
Then came the rain.
We had two choices. Call it a day and grab a hot cuppa, or throw caution to the wind and embrace mother nature as she brought not just rain, but a low cloud across the mountain. The choice was obvious right?!
As the rain grew heavier, Annika quickly changed into the most adorable blue dress - a dress her mother had sent her from the other side of the world just months before. A dress worn by Annika's mother when she was pregnant with Annika.
Annika, you will do your Mum proud. You and Bayden were just a pleasure to hang out with and I can't wait to document in those first few days, you getting to know your little person.
For now, this is your story xx
For those who have been following me for a while, you'll know that the Glass House Mountains is one of my all-time favourite places to shoot. It's been great for family photography (just ask the lovely Olah family) and couples photography alike - see Jess + Josh, Nikki + Ben, and most recently, Jack + Britt. If you too want to your story told in such an amazing spot, get in touch today and together, we can hit the hills.
