Wills Family Reunion | Brisbane family photography | Mount Cotton
As a photographer of families, I often think it would be fantastic to have professional photos of my own extended family. Despite being in the same city, life and all it's obligations means we only all get together for a birthday bbq, Christmas or if we're lucky, some kind of tex-mex affair for mothers or fathers day. Despite being scribbled down on a post-it (that is no doubt crumpled under a million notepads), I've never gotten around to arranging that all important shoot.
May 2017 be the year that changes.
In the lead up to Christmas, I was contacted by the lovely Emma, looking to purchase a photography gift voucher for her parents'-in-law. Residing interstate, Emma and her husband's latest visit to Brisbane would be all the more wonderful as they would be introducing their 3 month old baby girl to the family.
I wanted a private and majestic setting that would suit the three generations we would be capturing. I immediately thought of the back paddock at Sirromet Winery, where I had captured an earlier wedding in September and knew this would be the perfect spot.
The summer afternoon was warm, breezy and golden. And it was more than a photography session - it was about a family exploring together, catching up, catching sun-rays in their hair, catching glimpses of kangaroos dotted on the landscape.
Emma, thank you for your generosity and for inspiring me to get my own family images on the agenda this year. To you and your wonderful, warm family - this is your story.
